Forest Garden and Orchards Tour
Free event, no booking required - just turn up!
Join us for a tour of the Forest Garden and Orchards at Haye Farm.
The Forest Garden is a diverse wildlife friendly garden following permaculture principles that produces a vast array of edible plants. A team of volunteers help maintain the garden, many of them will be present to show you around the garden.
The traditional standard orchards are also maintained without the use of chemicals or artificial fertilisers. We have over 50 apple varieties and also cherry, plum, pear and damson trees. Fruit is sold at the farm in season and much of the apple harvest is turned into juice. The orchards also provide great wildlife value and complement the whole farm's ethos of regenerating the land we farm by working alongside nature.
Saturday 20th June 10am-12.30pm
Joyful Composting Workshop
The session is led by Claire, who is a compost educator, and advocate for the importance of soil.
An enjoyable, hands‑on workshop, that introduces how composting can be a grounding practice that is nourishing for the soul as well as the soil.
- discover the incredible ecosystem that transforms kitchen and garden materials into beautiful compost, and how we can work in harmony with it
- advice on how to compost in a way that suits your space, personality and physicality
- practical tips for avoiding common issues and making the process easier
We will explore different approaches - including wormeries and bokashi - and there will be plenty of time for questions. You'll leave with a deeper understanding of how home‑made compost builds resilience in your garden/allotment, and confidence to make your own.
